Terms of use
Last updated 26 October 2026
These terms are between you and Zenland Video Games Ltd ("we"), registered in Ireland, company no. 749295, which runs SCMBase. By creating an account or using SCMBase, you agree to them. Questions: hello@scmbase.com.
1. What SCMBase is
SCMBase is a browser-based teaching platform for supply chain management and ERP: a simulation game, guided labs with automatic marking, and teaching materials (textbooks, a quick-start guide and slide decks), and, for people learning on their own, certificate courses with videos, the books online and a final exam. We keep improving it, so features may change.
2. Accounts
- Lecturer accounts are free. We check that you teach at a college or university before the lecturer tools and the quick-start guide open, and we may turn down or close a lecturer account that doesn't. A free lecturer account includes every lab, the quick-start guide, every slide deck (to view and present online) and the first chapter of each course; classes, the slide decks to download and edit, the textbooks and the lecturer editions come with a paid class.
- Student accounts in a class are made with a class code from a lecturer. The lecturer, or their institution, arranges the seats.
- Free accounts include the first lab of each course (SCM Lab 1 and ERP Lab 1) and a daily limit on simulation runs.
- Single User is a paid subscription for people learning on their own, with optional extras (Section 4).
Keep your password to yourself: an account is for one person. Give us your real name and an email address you use, and keep them up to date.
3. Using SCMBase fairly
Please don't:
- make accounts automatically, or many accounts for one person;
- try to get round the marking, the run limits or the access rules, or to see other people's data;
- overload, probe or attack the service, or copy it wholesale;
- share paid materials (the books, the guide, the slide decks, the course videos) beyond what Section 6 allows.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
4. Paying
Our reseller, Paddle, sells our subscriptions, the books and the certificate courses as the merchant of record, so Paddle takes the payment, issues the invoice and handles taxes, under its own buyer terms, which you see at checkout.
- Subscriptions renew each month or each year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and then the account goes back to a free account, keeping its saved games.
- Prices are shown on scmbase.com, with VAT included where it applies. If a price goes up, we'll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal.
- Classes are invoiced to the institution directly, not through Paddle: once, when the class is set up, for the number of students × the months the class runs × the monthly price per student on scmbase.com, before VAT. No student is charged more than six months' worth. Invoices start at 10 students and 3 months. The class is full at the number of students ordered; more seats or months can be added with a new purchase order, at the same rate. Students' access ends on the class's end date. The Lab builder and leaderboards add-on, if ordered, is invoiced in the same way, for the same students and months, at its own price per student per month.
- Refunds: see the refund policy.
5. Lecturers and their institutions
A lecturer who sets up a class decides which students join and which labs they open, and can see their work. Where an institution needs a data processing agreement, we'll provide one on request. The privacy notice says what we keep about students.
6. Our materials
SCMBase, its labs, the textbooks, the guide, the slide decks and the course videos belong to us. You may use them for your own learning and, as a lecturer, for teaching your own classes: you may show the slides, edit them for your course and share them with your enrolled students. Please don't sell them, publish them openly, or pass on a copy of a book that was sold or given to you (each copy carries the name of the person it's for).
Your saved games and your answers are yours. You give us the right to store and process them to run SCMBase for you.
7. Availability
We work hard to keep SCMBase running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted, and some parts are new. We'll give notice of planned maintenance where we can.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under Irish or EU law, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we aren't liable for losses we couldn't reasonably foresee, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Ending
You can close your account at any time by writing to us. If we ever close SCMBase, we'll give at least 60 days' notice and refund any subscription time you've paid for and can't use.
10. Changes and the law
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app and by email before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction, without taking away any right you have to bring a claim where you live.
